Star Breath Exhibition

STAR BREATH is a multi-sensory installation combining video projection, original sound, oil paintings, and mixed media. Inspired by nature, the work explores themes of environmental connection, memory, and transformation. Steven’s landscape paintings and my abstract mixed media works will be exhibited alongside an immersive projection featuring layered imagery and a composed soundscape. The installation invites viewers to reflect on nature’s breath—its constant movement, stillness, and presence—while blurring the boundaries between visual and sonic art. The exhibition is adaptable, immersive, and ideally suited to a space that supports both wall-based works and projection.

STAR BREATH reflects a shared journey between Brigid Burke, and Steven Broughton, shaped by a deep connection to the natural world and a commitment to experimental, sensory art-making. Brigid's practice blends sound, video, drawing, and mixed media to create immersive environments that explore the interplay between nature, abstraction, and emotion. As both a visual artist and musician, Brigid uses original sound compositions and manipulated imagery to reflect the layered rhythms of the landscapes she engages with. Steven’s journey is rooted in landscape oil painting. With a background in illustration and design, his expressive, textured works respond to the Australian environment particularly rivers, coastlines, and skies. His paintings are rich in colour and gesture, capturing light, movement, and mood. Together, we bring our practices into dialogue, responding to place through sound, image, and emotion.
