GREG URE

Greg is a fine art printmaker and freelance illustrator who works from his home studio in Healesville. He has been practicing relief printmaking for the past 20 years and often uses digital technologies for his freelance work. He enjoys the hands-on process, and the many challenges relief printing can bring, from the initial sketching of compositions, through to the carving, colour palette choice, and final mixing/rolling of inks and printing.

Greg has spent his working life in Melbourne but has returned to live in Healesville, the place he grew up, and experience it through a new lens. On his return, he joined YAVA; Yarra Valley Arts and has participated in the past 2 Open Studios.

The works on display here are from a solo exhibition – “Australian Birds and Native Flora” Whilst he is always a keen visual observer of his environment, he finds himself increasingly amazed and appreciative of the diversity and uniqueness our native flora and fauna present. Both lend themselves well to the bold, colourful and graphic qualities relief print making can produce.
