Born in Romania, I have lived in Australia for the last 38 years. I have always been an artist inside, however life and my profession got hold of me first. The decision to bring forward my way of expression came after my first visit to Japan when, like many other ahead of me, I fell in love with the Japanese aesthetics. After that trip I searched and found my Ikebana sensei here in Melbourne and for about 15 years I followed my ascension to the level of Associate Master in Ichiyo School of Ikebana.
In parallel I was fortunate enough to meet the wonderful people who propelled my confidence nurtured and encouraged me to find my way of art.
I like to experiment with new things and learn everything all at once -ikebana, sumi-e ink painting, Japanese calligraphy, painting on paper, canvas, wood panel trying out different media – oil, acrylic, ink, pastel, watercolour.
For 8 years I was part of The Artists Group in South Melbourne painting together with established artists and exhibiting our work every year. Being part of the curating team has been a great honour for me.
As I am largely a self-made artist, what I paint comes from a space where imagination seems to have no limits and I discovered early that every work has a piece of my soul. Separate elements like stained glass are revealed of myself each time and there is no way to hide or mask anything.
I have no doubt the process is infinite and all I need to do is be still, let it come to life and not force it. The result is my offer to the viewer, with the invitation to be inspired and bring forward their own inner beauty.
