JESSICA
JARVIE

Melbourne artist, Jess Jarvie works from her home studio in the Bend of Islands.

With a degree in Fine Art Painting and a Diploma of Education. She has been actively participating in the local arts community over many years.

She was shortlisted for the Nillumbik Art Prize and winner of the viewer’s choice award. The painting title ‘Winter Blues’ was later purchased Nillumbik Shire Council.

Jess has exhibited in numerous group shows, with a solo show in 2021 at the Abbotsford’s convent.

Working predominately in Watercolour and taking her inspiration from the natural world, Jess paints intimate portraits of ‘found and collected’ indigenous flora. Jess’s intricate exploration of space and composition along with her use of strong shadow come together to inform her unique perspective on her botanical subjects, while also creating an emotional content that conjures up states of tension, rest, and contemplation.  As such her painting are portraits, each subject precious and individual.
