JO RAMSAY
Jo Ramsay works across a broad range of media, encompassing fibre sculpture, Italian glass mosaics, textiles, costume and installations for community celebrations. Natural forms and flora are common motifs in her work.
She employs the woven form as an intuitive response to the rhythms of nature and the human desire for shelter - both physical and emotional, with pieces that are both delicate and resilient—metaphors for home, identity, and the unseen structures that support us.
Her sculpted nests explore the instinctual need to protect and nurture. Constructed from natural and reclaimed fibres, they evoke the tension between fragility and resilience to symbolise the cycle of growth.
Delicate yet grounded, open yet enclosed, they embody the paradox of protection and vulnerability - mirroring the human experience of building and rebuilding.
