SHARON
TWINING

Sharon has been a member of Valley Potters for many years. Hand building has allowed her to explore many different construction techniques from pinched forms to slab constructions. This exhibition highlights these techniques, and the glazing and firing methods of 'raku'. Raku is a quick firing method that results in lustrous glaze finishes.  These contrast with the deep blacks, created when work is removed from the kiln while glowing red hot, and reduced in a bin comprising of scrunched newspaper that burns to create the carbon absorbed by the unglazed clay. The work is purely decorative. Vase forms are not waterproof.
