VICKI
MORITZ

A graduate of the Photographic Studies College Vicki is an accomplished and awarded fine art landscape photographer but has explored many genres- portrait, travel, nature, street etc. She enjoys interpretation and creation of works of art from her landscape and other images. A member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) she also judges photography at all levels.

This photographic exhibition showcases the Central area of Victoria, from the Yarra Valley through to Alexandra. The rural landscape is captured and interpreted in 3 bodies of work. “Backroads” explores objects in the paddocks- the beauty and character of the various buildings, windmills, haybales and livestock. There is some artistic licence taken with some subjects that may have moved down the road a bit! “Solitary Survivors” is a celebration of the strength and resilience of trees surviving in a landscape of drought, fire, flood and extensive clearing of the original wooded landscape.

Cyanotype is a different and very old form of photography developed in 1842. Placing objects on sensitised paper and then exposing to UV light results in a capture of the shape and form of the object. The process has been updated by using wet paper with colour and texture added using natural elements such as turmeric, salt and soap bubbles. For this series I have used botanicals from my garden in Marysville. As such “Marysville Botanicals” is a celebration of the recovery of nature as the garden was burned on Black Saturday 2009.
